Hi, I’m Colleen Esau, a photographer and retoucher based in Potchefstroom, South Africa. I’m passionate about capturing meaningful moments and creating images that tell powerful visual stories. By combining my skills in photography and professional retouching, I aim to produce visually striking work that feels authentic, polished, and memorable.
About Me
I am a creative professional with a background in Photography and Visual Multimedia Arts, having studied at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and the University of South Africa. My education provided me with a strong foundation in Photography, creative communication, and digital image production.
I recently relocated from Cape Town to Potchefstroom, where I now work as a full-time Photography Lecturer at Potchefstroom Academy. Through teaching, I have the opportunity to mentor and inspire the next generation of photographers while continuing to grow my own creative practice.
Alongside my lecturing role, I am focused on building my photography and retouching presence in Potchefstroom, collaborating with local businesses, brands, and individuals.
Over the years I have built a diverse portfolio working across photography, retouching, and content creation, always focusing on detail, quality, and strong visual storytelling.

Get To Know Me.
1. While I usually prefer being behind the camera, but every now and then I enjoy stepping in front of it for a bit of fun.
2. I’ve been married to my best friend, @shane.esau, for just over a year.
3. I’m completely addicted to coffee — even though I almost always leave that last sip at the bottom of the cup.
4. Black will always be my go-to colour for everyday wear.
5. My love language? Connecting with people over a delicious meal.
6.Nail care is a non-negotiable for me.
7. I completed my BTech degree in Photography in 2019 and recently finished my Honours in Multimedia.
